Our student remembered the following Speaking questions from her recent IELTS exam in Italy:

IELTS Speaking Test

Part 1 (Interview)

• Where do you live?
• What do you like most about living there?
• Has your area changed much in recent years?
• Do you think those changes have been positive or negative?
• When something breaks at home, do you try to fix it or replace it?
• Have you ever repaired something successfully?
• Do you think people repair things less nowadays than in the past?

Part 2 (Cue Card)

Describe a time when someone gave you wrong information and you later discovered it was not true. You should say:

• what the information was
• who gave it to you
• how you found out it was incorrect

and explain how you felt about the situation.

Part 3 (Discussion)

• Where do people usually look for information nowadays?
• How can you tell whether information is reliable?
• How much can we trust news found online?
• What kinds of jobs require information to be carefully checked?
• Why do some people believe false information easily?
• How can schools help students become more critical of the information they read?
